Turkish Parliament and PKK Pave the Way for Peace
The Italian website “Notizie Geopolitiche” highlighted efforts by the Turkish government to resolve the Kurdish issue through negotiations with the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) via the Turkish Parliament.
In a report published on the site, writer Shorsh Surme pointed to ongoing meetings between delegations from Kurdish parties and the Turkish Parliament, noting that Abdullah Öcalan, the imprisoned leader of the PKK, has sent messages calling for peace and urging positive steps to resolve disputed issues.
Faruk Kılıç, a deputy from the Justice and Development Party, expressed confidence that the peace process in Turkey would yield positive results. He emphasized that President Erdoğan had decided to extend a hand of brotherhood to everyone without conditions and was seeking to address issues with the spirit of a statesman.
According to the writer, Kılıç’s statements coincide with ongoing negotiations between the PKK and Turkish officials within Parliament, coordinated with Öcalan. The PKK delegation includes Pervin Buldan and Sırrı Süreyya Önder.
The delegation is expected to meet with Kurdish politician Ahmet Türk at Öcalan’s request, following a previous meeting with Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş and Nationalist Movement Party leader Devlet Bahçeli.
