Barcelona Approaches Temporary Solution for Registering Olmo and Víctor

Barcelona’s crisis regarding the re-registration of Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor is nearing a resolution, as the Catalan club awaits a provisional decision allowing their temporary registration.
The Spanish Football Federation and La Liga had recently issued a joint statement rejecting the re-registration of Olmo and Víctor after the December 31, 2024 deadline passed without meeting the financial fair play regulations or achieving the 1:1 ratio requirement.
According to Spanish radio station “Cadena SER,” Barcelona is close to obtaining a precautionary measure from Spain’s Superior Sports Council (CSD), permitting the temporary registration of the two players.
“Barcelona may receive good news soon,” the report stated. “The CSD has already decided to grant the club this provisional measure.”
Meanwhile, Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo reported that Barcelona has not yet received an official notification but described the situation as “promising.”
Once the decision becomes official, Olmo and Víctor will be available to coach Hansi Flick. However, they will miss Barcelona’s Spanish Super Cup semifinal against Athletic Bilbao tonight in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Still, “Cadena SER” did not rule out their participation in the final on Sunday if Barcelona progresses past their Basque rivals.
The Spanish broadcaster clarified that the precautionary measure does not equate to a final decision. Olmo and Víctor will be allowed to play for Barcelona until the end of the 2024-2025 season while their licenses are temporarily reinstated.
The CSD is expected to take approximately three months to issue a final ruling on the matter. Until then, the two players can represent Barcelona without restrictions.
After the Spanish Federation and La Liga rejected the duo’s re-registration, Barcelona issued a statement expressing dissatisfaction with the decision and confirming plans to appeal to the Superior Sports Council.
According to Mundo Deportivo, the CSD considers Barcelona’s 52-page appeal to have a solid legal foundation. This has brought the provisional measure closer to approval, with the detailed review of the appeal document to follow.
Hansi Flick had included Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor in Barcelona’s squad for the Spanish Super Cup and took them to Saudi Arabia.
