The Battle of Wad Madani: The Aftermath of Victory Inside and Outside Sudan

There was widespread joy in several Sudanese cities and others abroad after the Sudanese army announced the liberation of Wad Madani, the capital of Al-Jazeera State, from the grip of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).

Reactions followed swiftly after the significant progress achieved by the army in the largest military operation in recent days.

A member of the Sovereignty Council and Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the army, General Shams Eddin Kabashi, arrived in Wad Madani to inspect the front lines.

The Ministry of Information stated in a statement that the armed forces “liberated the prisoners held in RSF prisons in Wad Madani, Al-Jazeera State.” The Minister of Information and the official spokesperson for the government, Khaled Al-Aseir, tweeted: “The Sudanese people are strong-willed and unconquerable. They will remain energized by faith and determination for victory, their resolve steadfast like mountains in facing all challenges, enduring crises no matter how long they last or how many conspiracies arise.”

He continued: “Victory is in the hands of God, who alone is capable of determining outcomes. A salute to the Sudanese armed forces, the security forces, the intelligence apparatus, the joint forces, and all those who contributed to the national cause. I extend my greetings on behalf of the Sudanese government to all our patient and steadfast people in Wad Madani, Al-Jazeera, and all of Sudan. The journey of giving and loyalty will continue without defeat until the end.”

Ministry of Foreign Affairs Statement

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also congratulated “the brave and resilient Sudanese people, the armed forces, and the valiant joint forces” on the great victory achieved in the liberation of Wad Madani, with its significant historical, national, and cultural symbolism.

Islamic Current Congratulates

The broad Islamic current issued a congratulatory statement, saying: “The broad Islamic current extends its congratulations to the Sudanese people in every part of the beloved country and those abroad on the glorious victory achieved by the entry of our heroic army and supporting forces into the beloved city of Wad Madani, the capital of Al-Jazeera, liberating it from the disgrace of the RSF, the rebellious, criminal militia, and their dishonorable and unpatriotic allies.”

The statement continued: “This victory comes as we breathe the blessings of the month of Rajab, which brings abundant goodness, and celebrate the glorious Independence Day, reinforcing the values of liberation from the shackles of dependency, the independence of national will, and the beginning of great victories to defeat the criminal militia and cleanse every stronghold of their presence in the capital and the sacred lands of Darfur, with the hope that all of Sudan will be free from their filth.”

Minni Arko Minnawi: Salutes to Our Heroes

The Governor of Darfur, Minni Arko Minnawi, said: “Today was a special day as we celebrated with the people of our great nation the liberation of Wad Madani. These moments embodied the spirit of unity and solidarity among us, confirming the strength of our will and determination in facing challenges. All greetings to our heroes who sacrificed so much for freedom and dignity.”

Tawakkol Karman Congratulates

The Yemeni activist Tawakkol Karman also congratulated in a tweet: “Congratulations on the liberation of Wad Madani, the capital of Al-Jazeera State, from the terrorist Janjaweed militias. Al-Jazeera is like Aleppo to Syria, and in a few days, Sudan will be free from the Janjaweed militias.”

Other Political Parties and Movements Congratulate

Other political parties, including the Ummah Party, the Sudanese Future Movement, the Justice and Equality Movement, and the Liberal Democratic Party, also extended their congratulations on the victory and liberation of Wad Madani, emphasizing the historic importance of the achievement in the context of national unity and the end of the war. They called for further action to continue liberating other cities and regions from the RSF, while stressing the need for unity and national reconstruction after the war.

This victory has been celebrated across Sudan, with numerous organizations and figures acknowledging the sacrifices and efforts made by the armed forces and the Sudanese people.
