“Egyptian League”: Al Ahly Regains Top Spot with Double from Ashour

Imam Ashour scored two second-half goals to lead Al Ahly to a 2-0 victory over visiting El Gouna, reinforcing their position at the top of the Egyptian Premier League on Wednesday.
According to Reuters, Ashour opened the scoring in the 63rd minute after the visiting team’s defense failed to clear the ball following successful pressure from Al Ahly players. Ahmed Nabil (Koka) regained possession and passed it to Mohamed Magdy (Afsha), who set it up for Ashour, who fired a precise shot into the net.
The playmaker continued his fine form, adding the second goal in stoppage time. Karim El-Debis crossed the ball, which Ashour met and converted directly into the net.
With this victory, Ashour has now scored five goals in his last two matches with Al Ahly, after netting a hat-trick in a 3-1 win over Asec Abidjan from Ivory Coast in the African Champions League.
Goalkeeper Mustafa Shobeir started the match, with captain Mohamed El-Shenawy on the bench.
With this win, Al Ahly has reached 18 points at the top of the table, one point ahead of Pyramids, while El Gouna remains at six points in second-to-last place.
