Sudan witnesses serious recession in the players transfer market

Sudan Events – Ali Al-Taher

The market transfer of football players in the Sudan is currently at its lowest tide, ebbing seriously to the point of unprecedented stagnation as the clubs, under the umbrella of the National Football Association, have so far shown no zeal in completing the registration procedure or concluding new contracts, ten days well into the opening of the widow for registration.

Last week, the Players’ Status and Transfer Committee of the Sudanese Federation announced the start of the main period for transfers and deregistration between players and clubs, which will last for two months before closing its doors on the seventh of coming January.

Although more than seven days have passed, the clubs have shown little, if any, interest in the process yet, including the top two clubs, Al Hilal and Al Merreikh, due to the suspension of sport activities and the uncertainty surrounding the competitions.

While Al Hilal Omdurman Club has focused all its efforts on the African Champions League, Al Merreikh is facing a challenge of complex administrative and technical situation. Meanwhile the reminders of the clubs are suffering from financial problems brought about by the war situation and a stagnation in sporting activities.
