Qatar Open: Australian De Minaur Reaches the Round of 16

Australian Alex de Minaur advanced to the Round of 16 in the Qatar Open Tennis Tournament (Tuesday).

De Minaur, the second seed of the tournament, defeated Russian Roman Safiullin 6-1, 7-5 in the second round of the event, currently held in the Qatari capital, Doha.

Dutchman Botic van de Zandschulp also advanced to the same round by beating Jordan’s Abdullah Shlibaya 7-5, 6-3. Meanwhile, Italian Luca Nardi defeated China’s Zhang Zhizhen 6-4, 6-3.

Nardi will face Spanish rising star Carlos Alcaraz, the tournament’s number one seed, in the next round.

Portuguese Nuno Borges also reached the Round of 16 after defeating Finland’s Otto Virtanen 7-6 (8/6), 6-3.
