European Commission President: Lasting Peace Can Only Be Achieved Through Strength

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen stated on Monday that she would brief EU member states on Tuesday about plans to strengthen Europe’s defense industries and military capabilities.

Speaking to reporters, von der Leyen said, “On Tuesday, I will inform member states via a letter about the plan to rearm Europe.” She added, “We need a significant increase in defense, without a doubt. We want lasting peace, but lasting peace can only be achieved through strength, and strength begins with reinforcing ourselves,” according to Reuters.
