Political and social entities from the Nuba Mountains region have called on military leaders of Nuba descent within the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) to remove the leader of the movement, Abdel Aziz Al-Hilu.
The entities, including the General Nuba Council, the Nuba Entity Unity, the General Union of Nuba, the Nuba Mountains Network of Organizations, and the Nuba indigenous authorities, stated in a joint press conference that the decision made in Nairobi was an individual one by Abdel Aziz Al-Hilu and does not represent the people of the Nuba Mountains. These entities also expressed their rejection of the presence of militias in the Nuba Mountains.
