Nyala Explosions.. Hard Strikes at the Heart of the Militia

Sudan Events – Agencies

The city of Nyala has witnessed violent explosions for the third consecutive day, shaking the northern and eastern parts of the city. Witnesses shared images showing flames and columns of smoke rising in the city’s sky, while the strikes were particularly focused on Nyala Airport and the Al-Daman Hotel, one of the most famous hotels in Nyala, which is believed to be hosting the first militia convoy coming from Nairobi.

Activists circulated a video showing the aftermath of an airstrike on the hotel, which the militia uses as headquarters for its leadership.

Eyewitnesses reported that the explosions continued for the third day in a row, with the strongest ones occurring, and pointed out that they could hear the explosions but not the sounds or the flights of military aircraft as had happened before. They confirmed that the mysterious explosions terrified members of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia, who subjected several citizens to searches and arrested a number of young people.

Targets of the Bombing:

The bombing accurately targeted the southern parts of the second and third floors of the Al-Daman Hotel, where these areas are typically used for conferences, parties, and meetings for the RSF leaders. Sources connected to the situation suggested that the strike could have been the result of pure intelligence work, meaning that it likely achieved its goal and eliminated prominent militia leaders who were probably present at the headquarters during the attack.

Sources confirmed the high success rate of the operation, due to the absence of any signals or sounds from aircraft before the bombing, unlike previous airstrike operations, which could allow targets to change positions. The bombing came suddenly, without prior warning.

The second target of the bombing, according to a military source who spoke to Al Jazeera, was Nyala Airport, where the army aircraft targeted a platform within the airport used for launching drones.

Plane or Missile:

All eyewitnesses from Nyala, including a member of the Sudanese Alliance, confirmed that they did not see any aircraft in the sky and did not hear the sounds of planes as was customary during each airstrike. They pointed out that the army targeted the Al-Daman Hotel and Nyala Airport using guided missiles. However, military sources indicated that the bombing was carried out by aircraft. Even if this was the case, experts believe that the aircraft used in the Nyala bombings was advanced and capable of launching surface-to-air missiles from a distance of 50 kilometers with high precision and a zero-error margin, relying on the element of surprise, as the missiles launched precede their sound, increasing the chances of hitting the target.

Panic Among Militia Forces:

According to witnesses from inside Nyala, the militia forces began a large-scale campaign of searches and arrests of citizens, looking for anything suspicious and inspecting everything. They believe that the strikes caused significant losses among the militia and instilled fear in them. Based on what happened, airstrikes now come suddenly, without aircraft flying overhead or any sound being heard, giving the militia forces little room for maneuver. The strikes occurred suddenly, especially at the Al-Daman Hotel, where no one heard anything except the explosion itself, which terrified the militia and turned them into frantic beings searching even women’s bags in the streets of Nyala to find someone who could guide the planes to their targets.

According to experts, the Nyala strike represents a new development in military operations in favor of the Sudanese army, which will ultimately speed up its victory and bring an end to the war, especially in Darfur. Targeting Nyala means that the army has set its sights on the city, and it will be the first to be liberated in Darfur after lifting the siege on Al-Fasher. Liberating Nyala means liberating all the states of Darfur, including Ad-Daein itself.
