Van Dijk: ‘The World is Sinking, But Liverpool’s Grand Prize is Still Within Reach’

Virgil van Dijk admitted that it may feel like “the world is sinking” after two painful defeats, but he insists that Liverpool’s “grand prize” this season is still within reach, according to The Athletic.
Arne Slot’s side endured a disappointing week, getting knocked out of the UEFA Champions League by Paris Saint-Germain before suffering a Carabao Cup final defeat to Newcastle United on Sunday.
Despite the setbacks, Liverpool’s captain is determined to keep the team focused on the Premier League title race. They currently trail Arsenal by 12 points with nine games remaining.
Speaking to reporters at Wembley Stadium after the final, Van Dijk said: “We have to turn this around. That’s how football works—within five days, you lose twice, and the world feels like it’s sinking. Two weeks ago, everything was bright, and there were rainbows everywhere.”
