Sudan Events – Agencies

An official in the North Darfur state government revealed, on Sunday, the number of children and women killed due to the ongoing clashes between the Sudanese army and its allies on one side, and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia on the other, since the war erupted in April 2023 until the current month of March 2025.

Ibrahim Khater, the Director-General of the Ministry of Health in North Darfur, stated in an interview with Sudan Tribune that 2,059 children have been killed, while 2,468 women have also lost their lives since the war began on April 15, 2023, up to March 15, 2025.

Khater confirmed that the total number of deaths and injuries had risen to 15,006 due to the continued clashes in the state. He pointed out that a large number of deaths have not been reported to hospitals, and that dozens of fatalities and injuries are occurring daily in villages located to the west, south, east, and north of Al-Fasher, as a result of the RSF’s occupation of these areas.

The Director-General acknowledged the significant challenges facing the health sector in the state, including a shortage of medical staff, a lack of essential medicines, and the reduced capacity of hospitals as most of them have been rendered inoperable. Additionally, there is a scarcity of food supplies, soaring prices, and an increase in fuel costs.
