Strict Directives for Fuel Distribution in Khartoum

The Governor of Khartoum, Ahmed Othman Hamza, instructed the Public Transport and Petroleum Directorate to regulate fuel distribution through the supervisory committee that includes all relevant security agencies. He emphasized the importance of enforcing the State Security Committee’s decisions, which include banning fuel supply to motorcycles, prohibiting fuel filling outside vehicle tanks, and preventing any violations in the fueling process.

In this context, the governor inspected fuel distribution operations on Wednesday at several service stations in Omdurman locality.

This comes as part of the state government’s intensified efforts to address the fuel shortage caused by the destruction of major depots in the Red Sea State due to acts of sabotage by the rebel militia, which targeted vital and service facilities essential to citizen welfare.

During his field tour, the Khartoum governor assured that the current crisis is temporary. He noted that the state government is working in full coordination with the federal government to secure petroleum supplies and ensure their continuous flow to citizens and essential sectors, particularly transportation and production.

He stressed the need for strict oversight of distribution operations at service stations, accelerating efforts to reduce congestion, and preventing vehicle overcrowding to ease citizens’ suffering and long hours of waiting in fuel queues.

The governor reiterated his directive to the Public Transport and Petroleum Directorate to organize distribution through the supervisory committee with the participation of all relevant security agencies. He emphasized the importance of activating the State Security Committee’s decisions, including banning motorcycles from receiving fuel, prohibiting fuel filling outside vehicle tanks, and preventing all forms of misuse.

He also instructed the traffic police to be present at service stations to facilitate vehicle movement, verify ownership of rickshaws and tuk-tuks, and impound any vehicle that violates traffic laws to prevent fuel from leaking outside official channels.

In conclusion, the governor reassured citizens that the crisis is on its way to resolution and urged cooperation with the relevant authorities to maintain stability and deny any opportunity to those attempting to disrupt the country’s economic and service conditions.
