EU Dispatches Sends Humanitarian Assistance to Sudan

Sudan Event/Talal Muddassir

A new European Union air cargo of humaitarianassitance, part of its humanitarian bridge dedicated to supplying partners in the humanitarian field, UNICEF and the International Emergency and Relief Organization, arrives at the airport of the coastal city of Port Sudan, eastern Sudan, on Monday, and then is to be distributed to those affected in other areas in Sudan.
In May 2023, the European Union launched a series of humanitarian air bridge operations to deliver essential supplies to Port Sudan, where the conflict that broke out in April this year created a difficult humanitarian situation with hundreds of thousands of internally displaced people.
So far, five HAB operations have been carried out to Port Sudan, transporting a total of about 161 tons of supplies, including medicines to help address the recent cholera outbreak in Sudan.
Crisis Management Commissioner Janez Lenarcic said, “The situation in Sudan is very worrying and once again innocent civilians are bearing the brunt of the conflict.”
