An Emergency Session of the African Peace and Security Council on Sudan

The African Union’s Peace and Security Council will hold an emergency session on Monday to address the situation in Sudan.

Sources within the African Union told Sudan Tribune that the session, chaired by Algeria, will discuss recent developments in Sudan, including the formation of a parallel government in the western city of Nyala.

The sources expected that Egypt would raise the issue of reviewing the AU’s decision to suspend Sudan’s membership in the continental body.

Meanwhile, a Sudanese diplomatic source revealed that a government delegation visited the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa, last week.

He said the delegation also held informal consultations with African Union officials and convened several meetings with the Sudanese diplomatic mission in Addis Ababa.
