Arab Bank Grants Sudan $10 Million

A joint meeting was held at the office of the Federal Ministry of Health’s Undersecretary in Port Sudan, bringing together representatives from the ministries of Health and Finance and the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa to follow up on the implementation of a $10 million grant from the bank.

Dr. Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim, Federal Undersecretary of Health, praised the significant impact of the grant on the health sector, noting that it came at a critical time and enabled the rollout of the National Ambulance Project in line with state-level needs despite the challenges posed by war.

He added that the grant also facilitated the provision of vital medical equipment, including MRI and CT scanners, marking a necessary step in strengthening health services nationwide. The support follows previous assistance in combating disease vectors.

Dr. Ibrahim emphasized that Khartoum State is facing an acute shortage of MRI machines after 20 devices were looted by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), making their replacement a top priority.

He commended the strong coordination with the Federal Ministry of Finance, stressing that this partnership reflects a genuine commitment to reinforcing Sudan’s health infrastructure.
