Senior Militia Commander Killed in North Kordofan

On Monday, one of the top operational leaders of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in Kordofan was killed in clashes with the Sudanese army south of El-Obeid, North Kordofan State.

Local sources told Sudan Tribune that “Sadiq Maken, commander of RSF Group 36, was killed during fighting in Kazgil.”

Several pro-RSF platforms mourned his death.

Maken and his forces were accused of committing widespread abuses against civilians in South Kordofan’s Dilling and Taybah, as well as Abu Zabad and neighboring areas in West Kordofan, where they established numerous checkpoints restricting civilian movement.

Military sources said the army repelled the RSF attack on Kazgil, inflicting heavy losses in personnel and equipment with the support of airstrikes targeting RSF positions across North and West Kordofan.
