Turkey Plans to Boost Trade, Establish Free Zones in Sudan

Minister of Industry and Trade, Mahasen Ali Yaqoub, underlined the depth of Sudanese-Turkish relations and expressed gratitude for Turkey’s continued support to Sudan across all sectors.

She called for greater joint investments and closer industrial and trade cooperation to create added value, noting Sudan’s abundance of raw materials and investment opportunities.

In a meeting with Turkish Ambassador Fatih Yıldız in Port Sudan on Monday, the minister discussed ways to strengthen economic ties, with particular emphasis on trade as a driver of economic partnership. She also pointed to Turkey’s potential role in Sudan’s post-war reconstruction, particularly in rebuilding the industrial sector.

Ambassador Yıldız reaffirmed his country’s desire to expand economic cooperation, expressing readiness to invest in manufacturing, small industries, and trade. He also emphasized Turkey’s intention to increase bilateral trade, establish free zones, and reactivate the Sudan-Turkey Joint Business Council.
