The Khartoum Locality Security Coordination Committee announced the creation of a special task force to combat armed gangs—locally known as “Tis’a Tawila” (“Nine Long”)—in southern parts of the capital. The decision was made during a meeting chaired by acting locality executive director Kamal Awad Al-Karim Mustafa.
The committee said the new mechanism will include joint security forces operating through fixed checkpoints and mobile patrols. It reaffirmed its commitment to tackling negative security phenomena and maintaining order in southern markets, as part of a broader preventive plan to dismantle crime hotspots.
The committee also instructed intensified campaigns to monitor foreign nationals and take legal action against undocumented residents in coordination with state authorities.
In a related development, the body tightened controls on the movement of furniture and vehicles within Khartoum locality and across neighboring localities and states. It revealed that several violations had been detected in the transport of furniture and other goods, with offenders facing legal action and their property confiscated pending investigations.
The committee further decided to conduct field visits to areas deemed vulnerable to security breaches to take on-the-ground measures. It also recommended strict follow-up on the order issued by the Chairman of the Sovereignty Council and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces regarding the withdrawal of combat forces from Khartoum.
