World Bank Expresses Readiness to Support Sudan’s Reconstruction Projects

World Bank President Ajay Banga has reaffirmed the Bank’s full support for Sudan, praising ongoing coordination efforts to advance priority files. He expressed the Bank’s readiness to intervene within the next two months to back reconstruction and economic recovery projects—particularly in the sectors of health, education, and environment—as part of the World Bank’s broader efforts to assist Sudan.
During a meeting on the sidelines of the Annual Meetings in New York, Sudan’s Minister of State at the Ministry of Finance, Mohamed Nour Abdel Daim, noted that Sudan is currently on the path toward a civilian transition and implementing economic and institutional reforms aimed at supporting the transitional phase and boosting reconstruction and recovery efforts.
Meetings of the African Group at the World Bank also witnessed the announcement of a new initiative by the Bank’s president to invest in infrastructure supporting transformation in the agricultural sector and creating sustainable jobs through partnerships between the private sector and smallholder farmers. The initiative aims to reach 250 million farmers by 2030.
