Sudan’s Permanent Representative in Geneva, Ambassador Hassan Hamed Hassan, held a joint coordination meeting at the mission on Saturday with Mamadou Dian, Regional Director of the UNHCR for East Africa, the Horn of Africa, and the Great Lakes, and Marie Hélène, UNHCR Country Director in Sudan.
The discussions focused on how to implement the urgent response needed for refugees, voluntary returnees, and host communities amidst funding shortages for the UNHCR’s comprehensive emergency response plan.
The ambassador highlighted the Sudanese government’s ongoing efforts and diligent monitoring to expedite international organizations’ procedures through the Supreme Humanitarian Emergency Committee, as well as the state’s humanitarian interventions across various states despite limited resources via the Humanitarian Aid Commission and the Refugee Commission.
