Sudan Calls for RSF to Be Classified as a Terrorist Group at Russia-Africa Forum

Sudan’s Minister of Cabinet Affairs, Lamia Abdel Ghaffar, called for the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) to be designated as a terrorist group and held accountable for their crimes.

Speaking at the Second Ministerial Conference of the Russia-Africa Partnership Forum in Cairo alongside Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on Saturday, Abdel Ghaffar stressed the need to prosecute any regional or international actors who provided material or logistical support or facilitated military equipment for the RSF.

She affirmed that the Sudanese government seeks peace and stability for its people, ensuring dignity, sovereignty, unity, and the fulfillment of the population’s aspirations without external interference.

The minister highlighted the severe challenges Sudan faces due to RSF’s rebellion, including killings, destruction, displacement, war crimes, crimes against humanity, and genocide.

She noted that the atrocities in Al-Fashir and subsequent events serve as evidence of the RSF’s criminal actions, emphasizing that the militia had planned the killings and destruction before entering the city, documenting their crimes on social media, which shocked the global conscience.
