Talks with Mining Companies Operating in Sudan

A delegation from Sudan’s Ministry of Minerals, participating in the International Mining Conference in the Saudi capital Riyadh, held an expanded meeting with a consortium of mining companies operating in Sudan. The meeting addressed a range of issues related to the companies’ activities, as well as ways to facilitate their technical and administrative operations in order to boost production and maximize public revenues for the state.
The Sudanese delegation included Eng. Mahdi Hussein Idris, Director of Sudamin (representing the Ministry of Minerals); Eng. Hassan Al-Safi, Director General of the Department of Monitoring and Supervision of Production Companies; Dr. Nizar Abdo Sayed Makawi, Director General of the Department for the Supervision of Export Companies and Gold Markets; Walid Omar Bahr, Director of the One-Stop Window for Gold Exports; and Eng. Ammar Mohamed Nour, Acting Director of the Executive Office of the Sudanese Mineral Resources Company, in addition to representatives of mining companies investing in the sector.
Participants discussed the future of the mining sector in light of current challenges, as well as the promising investment opportunities Sudan continues to offer.
The meeting concluded with a package of practical recommendations aimed at developing the sector and streamlining procedures for companies, contributing to the creation of an attractive and stable investment environment.
