Mineral Resources: Preparations Completed to Implement Updated “Stone Sack” Fee Decision

The Director of the River Nile State Office of the Sudanese Mineral Resources Company, Moataz Haj Nour Mohamed, announced the completion of all administrative and technical arrangements required to enforce Minister of Minerals Decision No. (80) of 2025, which updates the “stone sack” fee to 25,000 Sudanese pounds.
The announcement was made during a security coordination meeting held to finalize arrangements for implementing the decision, with the participation of the State Police Command, headed by Major General (Legal) Al-Qurashi Al-Sir Al-Sayed, Director of River Nile State Police, alongside senior officials from the Mining Security Police, the Minerals Economics Security Administration, members of the supervisory committee at the state office, and market managers.
The Director of the Company’s state office commended the significant efforts exerted by security and police agencies in securing the mining sector, noting that these efforts have positively reflected on performance stability and revenue maximization. He emphasized that the high level of coordination between the Sudanese Mineral Resources Company and security and police bodies has directly contributed to the stability and development of the mining sector in the state.
He also reviewed joint efforts undertaken with local authorities and local communities, reiterating the company’s commitment to mobilizing all available resources to implement the security plan for enforcing the decision in the most effective manner.
For his part, the Director of State Police, Major General (Legal) Al-Qurashi Al-Sir Al-Sayed, called for heightened responsibility in securing this vital and strategic resource. He highlighted existing threats facing the country due to competition over its resources, stressing the need for innovation, precise performance, and the use of modern technologies to secure mining markets and sites across the state. He affirmed the full readiness of security and police forces to implement the decision, describing the approved execution plan as ambitious.
Meanwhile, directors of the Mining Security Police, Minerals Economics Security, and the police of Abu Hamad and Berber localities expressed full readiness to implement the decision in accordance with the approved plan, pledging strict adherence and high professional standards.
The meeting concluded with an agreement to hold regular evaluation meetings every three months to monitor developments and undertake immediate corrective measures.
