Real Madrid Crush Monaco in the UEFA Champions League

Kylian Mbappé scored twice and Vinícius Júnior provided two assists as Real Madrid delivered a crushing 6–1 victory over Monaco at the Santiago Bernabéu on Tuesday night in the league phase of the UEFA Champions League.

The win lifted Real Madrid to second place with 15 points, level with third-placed Bayern Munich and six points behind leaders Arsenal, putting the Spanish giants close to securing a top-eight finish and automatic qualification for the round of 16.

Monaco, meanwhile, remain 20th with nine points, a position that still offers them a chance to compete in the knockout play-offs.

Mbappé gave Real Madrid an early advantage with goals in the fifth and 26th minutes, before Franco Mastantuono added a third in the 51st minute.

Monaco defender Thilo Kehrer then turned the ball into his own net in the 55th minute while attempting to clear a low cross from Vinícius. The Brazilian winger capped his outstanding performance in the 63rd minute with a moment of individual brilliance, dribbling past three defenders before firing into the top corner.

Monaco reduced the deficit in the 72nd minute through Jordan Teze, but Jude Bellingham completed the rout with another Real Madrid goal from inside the penalty area in the 80th minute.
