Finance Minister Jibril Ibrahim stressed that ending the war in Sudan requires “an end to external support for the Rapid Support Forces militia,” alongside stronger humanitarian assistance and support for a national political process leading to lasting peace.
In a post on his official Facebook page, Jibril said that he met at the European Parliament headquarters in Brussels with Hilda Vautmans, head of the Parliament’s Africa unit, and Victoria García Pérez, the European Parliament’s rapporteur on Sudan, accompanied by Sudanese Ambassador Abdel Bagi Kabir.
He said he had briefed the officials on the political, security, and humanitarian developments in Sudan, as well as the impact of the war on civilians and state institutions. He underscored the importance of the European Union’s role in limiting foreign interference and supporting a political solution.
Jibril reiterated the Sudanese government’s commitment to the Jeddah Declaration and called for a comprehensive Sudanese-led dialogue without exclusion.
The minister also urged the European Union to condemn what he described as crimes committed by the RSF, work toward designating it as a terrorist organization, and avoid equating it with the Sudanese Armed Forces. He warned of the group’s continued threats to civilians and reaffirmed Sudan’s firm rejection of any attempts to undermine its territorial integrity or sovereignty.
