The Democratic Bloc affirmed that launching Sudanese-Sudanese dialogue and initiating an inclusive political process represent the fundamental entry point for addressing the current crisis, ending the war, and achieving lasting peace in the country.
The bloc’s spokesperson, Nidal Hisham, told Sudan Tribune that the bloc had put forward an updated vision for the political process as a roadmap centered on comprehensive national dialogue. She stressed that the dialogue seeks to address the root causes of the crisis and develop a vision for the future by drawing lessons from past experiences.
Regarding mechanisms for resolving the conflict, Nidal said there is a proposal for a ceasefire mediated by the United States, running in parallel with the political track. She affirmed that the two tracks would complement each other through coordination and convergence toward a point of agreement that would ensure a permanent end to the war, address the humanitarian situation, and facilitate reconstruction.
She added that understandings had been reached with the Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, to create a conducive domestic environment and ensure an inclusive dialogue, while excluding those involved in violations against the Sudanese people. She noted that the international community’s role would be to facilitate and support the process without imposing any form of tutelage.
