Alves : Determine Trial Date for Disgraceful charge”

A court in Barcelona announced, on Wednesday, that the trial of Brazilian football star Dani Alves, on charges of sexual assault, will begin on February 5.
Alves is accused of sexually assaulting a woman inside a nightclub in Barcelona in December 2022.
The former Barcelona right-back has been in pretrial detention since last January, and a court refused to release him on bail, citing the risk of his escape.
Alves denied committing any wrongdoing, and claimed that he had a consensual relationship with the woman.
The investigating judge charged him last August, and the court said there was sufficient evidence to begin the trial.
Prosecutors are demanding a 9-year prison sentence for him, while the alleged victim’s lawyers want him to spend 12 years behind bars.
