World Bank: Sudanese economy shrinks by 12%

Due to the increasing repercussions of the war taking place between the government army and the rebel Rapid Support Forces militia, which has entered its sixth month, the World Bank said its indicators show a contraction of the Sudanese economy by an estimated 12% for the current year 2023.
The World Bank based its estimates on the impact of about 400 establishments working in the food and pharmaceutical industries and various other fields in Khartoum being completely out of service after the major sabotage they were exposed to. This has also impacted productive and agricultural projects throughout the country due to lack of financing and a state of administrative instability.
About 100 branches of banks operating in the country were looted, burned and completely destroyed, including large parts of the Central Bank of Sudan.
