Saudi Arabia Wins WHO Director General Position

Voting procedures to choose the Regional Director of the World Health Organization (WHO) for the countries of the Eastern Mediterranean Region took place in Cairo on Tuesday.
Sudan was represented to obtain the position by Professor Ahmed Farah Shadul. However, the position was won by the candidate of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Dr. Hanan Al-Balkhi.

Shadul congratulated Saudi Arabia on the victory, hoping for its support for Sudan’s programs and efforts.

The Federal Minister of Health, Dr. Haitham Muhammad Ibrahim assigned a group of Sudanese experts to lead the campaign to nominate Shadul, led by Professor Omar Suleiman, Professor Ezzedine Sharif Hussein and others.
