An American diplomat: RSF Studying Option of making “El Geneina” its Capital

Former American diplomat and expert at the Centre for Strategic and International Studies in Washington, Cameron Hudson, said that sources close to the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) revealed to him the intention of the RSF and its allies to form a single government in the city of El-Geneina, the capital of West Darfur state.

Hudson added, “They are studying the matter and the feasibility of this step.”

The rebel RSF militia had previously taken control of the city of El Geneina in western Sudan – 1,200 km from the capital, Khartoum. It is a city that represents a commercial centre and a border crossing towards Chad and other West African countries, as it is only about 27 km from the Chadian border.
