Emergency Order to Confiscate Vehicles

Sudan Events – Rehab Abdullah

Governor of Gazira State, Ismail Awadallah Al-Agib, issued an emergency order (Thursday) to confiscate the machinery used in transporting agricultural crops if they do not meet the irrigation and administration tax. Farmers considered it unfair to farmers.

Commenting on the issuance of an emergency order, farmer Kamal Sari said, “This is a farmer and not an intruding enemy.”

He considered it an impromptu decision that was not supported by law, legitimacy, or authority, and he affirmed that farmers did not deserve such excessive severity.

Sari also added, “Our expectations were for the governor to issue his order to protect the project from thugs and bandits, secure the harvest, maintain farm security, and issue an emergency order to cultivate the largest area of wheat this season. We were surprised by an emergency that was no less dangerous than the Rapid Support Force attacks on us.”
