Militia uses Women bodies as a harmful war tool

Sudan Events – Follow-ups

African Feminist Solidarity Conference with Sudan, which was held from November 22 to 23, in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi, organized by the Strategic Initiative for Women of the Horn of Africa (SIHA), a feminist network that works in partnership with feminist grassroots groups and civil society in the areas of women’s rights and women’s access to peace and justice.
The final statement of the conference indicated that the crisis that began as an armed conflict between the two warring parties, the Rapid Support Forces and the Sudanese Armed Forces, has escalated throughout Sudan into a widespread war against defenseless citizens, targeting in particular women’s bodies, their livelihoods, their homes, and their dignity. “This ongoing aggression reveals the significant impact of war on the lives of innocent civilians.” Said SIHA.
The statement stressed that the current situation requires urgent attention, and also requires collective action. It is a call to confront the brutality towards defenseless civilians, especially women who find themselves at the forefront in this illegal war. Our responsibility is to reveal the ugly nature of this conflict, document and report violations, as well as strengthen the voices of Sudanese women and girls, and take action against the forces that seek to extinguish the spirit and civilization of the Sudanese people.
