Spokesperson for the German Sportswear Company (Puma) said – today, Tuesday – that it will end its sponsorship of the Israeli national football team next year, in a decision it took before the “Al-Aqsa Flood” operation launched by the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) on October 7 last year.

The spokesperson added in a statement via email, “While two national teams have recently signed, which will be announced later this year, the contracts of a number of national federations, such as Israel and Serbia, will expire in 2024.”

The spokesperson added that the company took this decision in 2022 as part of its new strategy, which is in line with the timelines for designing and developing the team’s shirts.

The Palestinian-led boycott called for a boycott of the “Puma” company – before the Al-Aqsa Flood operation – because of its sponsorship of the Israeli national team.

The boycott calls increased in strength and extended to include more companies and products following the occupation’s aggression against the Gaza Strip, which entered its 67th day and left more than 18,000 martyrs and tens of thousands wounded and missing.
