Turkish Federation Suspends Sports Activity

The Turkish Football Federation has suspended all league games in the country after a club president punched a referee in the face at the end of a top-flight match.
MKE Ankaragucu president Faruk Koca attacked the field referee of his team’s match against Rezispor after its end, and punched Halil Umut, the match referee. The referee fell to the ground and was kicked by two people, until security and several players intervened and rescued him, eventually took him away from the field.
This development comes after the referee showed the red card to two players, one from his team and the other from the opposing team, Rizespor scored the equalizer in the seventh minute of stoppage time, ending the match in a 1-1 draw.
The Turkish Federation announced on Tuesday the stoppage of football activity in the country.
According to reports in the Turkish media, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan personally condemned the attack, before the Turkish Football Association announced the suspension of football activity in the country, before publishing an official statement condemning the incident.
