Federal Minister of Social Development, Ahmed Adam Bakhit, announced the completion of the evacuation of Maigoma children from Wad Madani to Gedaref, then to Kassala, and then Port Sudan, indicating in a press statement that their number reached 301, including mothers and workers.
He appreciated the efforts of UNICEF in the evacuation process and its immediate response to the evacuation request, noting that UNICEF covered all the evacuation costs, starting with renting buses, feeding, health care for the children, and preparing the headquarters. It also committed to delivering them to Port Sudan and sheltering them in a prepared headquarters, and UNICEF announced it will cover subsequent care for the coming three months.
