Organization: Sudanese Refugees in Libya Suffer

Youth for Darfur (MASHAD), an organization active in humanitarian and human rights fields in Darfur region, has revealed that thousands of Sudanese refugees who fled to Libya because of the war are facing extremely harsh humanitarian conditions. It said they are unable to obtain the most basic services and requirements.
The organization confirmed in a press release on Wednesday that these Sudanese refugees lack shelter, food and treatment, with the current winter season exacerbating their conditions.
“Mashad” voiced concern over these conditions, and described as unknown the fate of the refugees scattered in a number of Libyan towns.
The organization drew the attention of UN agencies, international organizations and the global humanitarian institution to the seriousness situation that requires urgent action to provide humanitarian aid to refugees and remedy the matter before the situation develops into a humanitarian catastrophe.
It also called on the authorities in Sudan and Libya to intervene for protection of the refugees and facilitating their stay in Libyan town, easing complications, and tightening coordination and joint cooperation to facilitate delivery of humanitarian assistance.
