A traffic accident on the White Nile Road today (Monday) killed and injured at least (27) people, some seriously injured, currently receiving medical attention at a local hospital.
The police press office reported that the accident occurred in the Assalaya, near the Al-Houtiya area, when a bus driver attempting to avoid a hole with the road asphalt, ended up in collision with a lorry coming from opposite direction.
The crash resulted in the death of (9) people on the spot, five others received serious injured while (8) sustained minor injuries. They were transported to the hospital to receive medical attention.
The press office stated that immediately after the accident occurred, the Asalaya traffic patrol was moved to the site of the accident, eased the traffic movement, took the necessary legal measures under the supervision of the Director of the Traffic Department in the state.
