Red Sea Developments Impact Sudan’s Treasury

Member of the Chamber of Commerce and Head of the Gum Exporters Division, Ahmed Al-Anan, has confirmed that recent developments on the Red Sea have posed hurdles and posed obstacles facing Sudanese exports.
In a statement to (Sudan Events), he complained about the scarcity of ships after the Yemeni Houthi developments in the Red Sea, in addition to the rise in freight and an increase in service prices by 100% for transportation, porters, loading and unloading, and renting warehouses.
He confirmed that exporters were affected by the low ceilings for withdrawals from banks despite the increase in export services. He piponted
to the difficulties in bank transfers from abroad and the lack of financing for exports.
Al-Annan stressed the need to find urgent solutions to the problems of exports, pointing out that they cause the state treasury to lose revenues in hard currency.
