The government briefed the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Ramatane Lamamra, on Saturday about the reasons that led to the outbreak of war, the atmosphere before it, the role of the framework agreement, and rapid support movements. The Foreign Minister-designate, Ambassador Ali Al-Sadiq, explained in a press statement after the meeting that they assured the envoy that the rebellion was seeking a coup and seizing power, and when it failed, it resorted to a comprehensive war against the state and against citizens and their property. He said that the meeting touched on initiatives and solutions, stressing the government’s readiness to sit down to reach a negotiated solution as stated in the Jeddah Agreement. He explained that they explained to the envoy the humanitarian situation and asked him to work on appealing to the United Nations and donors to provide humanitarian aid. The Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Ramadan Lamamra, officially began his meetings today with a number of meetings in the city of Port Sudan in search of finding a solution to stop the war in Sudan by meeting with government parties and other actors, where he met with the designated Foreign Minister and a number of ministers of the executive branch, in addition to another meeting with political forces.
