GIAD Launches Reconstruction

The Minister of Finance and Planning, Dr. Jibriel Ibrahim Mohammed, has noted the great role that awaits the “GIAD Industrial Company” after the cessation of the war and the phase of reconstruction and rebuilding. He pointed out, during his meeting with a delegation from the GIAD Engineering Industries Group, the need for the company to prepare for the next stage of the great work that awaits it after the end of the war regarding rebuilding and reconstruction stage. Jibriel committed to cooperating with the Ministry of Industry and other competent authorities to provide a stimulating environment for national industries through specific legislation and policies.
He called on the company and its technical staff to exert more effort in order to fully return to production in various departments, in addition to entering into new fields such as mining to benefit from the raw materials available in Sudan. At the same time, he praised the company’s ability to overcome the shock and resume work and production with the required speed under the current circumstances that the country is going through.
For her part, Minister of Industry Mahasen Yaqoub stressed the role of the engineering industry sector and its great contribution in supporting the national economy, and stressed the necessity of the company’s participation in the post-war period in order to rehabilitate national industries, especially small industries, noting the importance of having policies that encourage the national product versus the imported one.
In the meantime, Abdullah Abdul Maarouf, CEO of the company, reviewed the group’s performance and plan for the year 2024 regarding readiness to rehabilitate the company in its various departments in preparation for the post-war period, particularly in the areas of providing rebuilding and reconstruction needs, pointing out that the company was transferred to work in Port Sudan with all its machinery and engineering staff, and the process of assembling the cars began, in addition to several local partnerships that the company established in the states of the River Nile and the Red Sea.
