CAF Holds the Draw for the African Games in Accra

Confederation of African Football (CAF), in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, conducted the draw for the Accra 2023 African Games, for men and women.

9 teams in the men’s category, and 8 teams in the women’s category, will compete during the 17 days of the tournament, which will be held in the Ghanaian capital, Accra, between October 8 and 24.

This will be the 13th edition of the multi-African sporting event, which dates back to 1956 when it was first hosted by Kongo.

The draw was held on the sidelines of the Total Energies 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, Côte d’Ivoire, with the participation of a duo of CAF legends, Amanda Dlamini and Emmanuel Eboue. The draw produced some interesting results in both the men’s and women’s categories.

Regarding the women’s category, the host country, Ghana, is in the first group, along with Tanzania and Ethiopia, which won the tournament twice, in addition to the emerging country in African women’s football, Uganda.

In the second group, Nigeria, Senegal, Cameroon and Morocco will compete for the first two places to advance further in the competition.

As for the men’s category, Ghana faces in the first group Gambia, Benin and Congo, the country that won the first edition.

As for the second group, Nigeria, South Sudan, Senegal, Uganda and Tunisia will compete.
