Sudanese-Egyptian Partnerships in Meat Imports

Khartoum – Rehab Abdullah

Head of the Meat Exporters Division at the Chamber of Commerce, Dr. Khaled Al-Maqbool, revealed understandings between Sudanese and Egyptian businessmen to enter into partnerships to secure imports of Sudanese meat, as well as creating added value in Sudanese products of livestock, meat and offal, revealing that there is now demand from many countries for meat. However, he pointed out that logistical problems hinder this, including cost, security problems, and others.

Noting that there is a golden opportunity available to Sudan, he attributed this to the fact that the Red Sea is now suffering from security problems and the difficulty of imports from distant regions due to tensions from the Houthi group. He pointed out that Sudan is one step away from the Gulf markets and considered it an opportunity to export large quantities, improve the balance of payments and the exchange rate, and fight the black market, adding that it can revive the markets, move the wheel of production, and can contribute to building Sudan again.
