(Al-Jalad Era).. A ceremony in memory of the people’s poet

Al Jalad Era new born band in Cairo, led by singer Shammat Mohamed Nour, is activating in intensive rehearsals in preparation for the concert that it will hold on the second day of April, the anniversary of the passing of the People’s Poet Mahjoub Sharif.
Aqad Al-jalad singing band is considered to have been established and formed based on the songs of the People’s Poet, so the emerging band began from the big band. Commemoration is out of loyalty.
Mahjoub Sharif was born in 1948 in the village of Abu Qaddum, in Masalimya rural area ,and died on April 2, 2014 in Omdurman, from pulmonary fibrosis, which began with him in 2004.
Mahjoub Sharif was famous for expressing the struggle of the people and their struggle for democracy, freedom, and decent living through his special and distinctive style of composing poems in colloquial language.
Sudan, which led to his arrest several times during the era of former President Jaafar Numeiri, as well as the Salvation Government in 1989 as a result of his positions against the dictatorial policy of the two governments.
Among his most famous poems are: “Oh mother, Maryam, Al-Sanblaya, Al-Harami, Al-Ghuishayeh, Your prisoners, Good morning, Good evening, Don’t be afraid.”
Many singers and bands sang for him inside and outside Sudan. Mahjoub Sharif emerged as a humanitarian poet who left his mark on the map of poetry after he enriched the cultural scene in his country with the national song and poem.
According to critics, his poems, which were sung by artists, contributed to shaping the map of national singing in Sudan.
Many musical bands sang for him, such as Aqad Al-Jallad and the Orbab Band from South Sudan. The famous Egyptian singer Mohamed Mounir also sang with his famous song “Al-Shaab, My Love, and My Artery, I Adani with a Personal Card.” In later stages, singer Mohamed Mirghani sang for him, and many of his poems were also sung by singer Mohamed Wardi, and they formed a bilateral cooperation.
Singers Abu Arki Al-Bakhit, Abdul Latif Abdul Ghani, Mohamed Al-Amin, Amal Al-Nour, Nancy Ajaj, and Shorouk Abu Al-Nas also sang for him. Singer Mustafa Sayed Ahmed composed and sang for him the song (Ten Clips of Life) and the poem (Maryam and Mai).
The late poet Mahjoub was known for his great bias towards women’s issues, and this was evident through many of his poems, perhaps the most famous of which is the poem (Sitt al-Bayt), in which Aqad AlJalad was sung.
This great bias towards women was evident through his last poems. It is mentioned that he wrote his last poems while struggling with Mahjoub Sharif, who was the one who On his sick bed, he struggled with death, so he wrote his last poems to his companion and life partner (Amira Al-Juzali ) before his death.
