High Sorghum Productivity in Gedaref

Agricultural and Women’s Associations in Gedaref State has revealed that the production of a fedan of sorghum increased from two bags to (13) bags of corn, while the production of a fedan beans rose to (20) bags after the ZOA Organization supported those associations with agricultural machinery and the use of technology in the integrated agricultural process.
The Acting Country Director of ZOA, Dr. Al-Tayeb Omar during the Journalists’ Tent Forum in Gedaref (Wednesday) on supporting agricultural and women’s associations in Gedaref, citing “ZOA” experience as a model and the concerted efforts in the state to improve the agricultural sector for small producers to achieve food security, pointing to the level of great development that has occurred in the communities that have organized themselves in the form of agricultural associations in Production of various crops, learning value-added chains through establishing small industries, learning how to finance through banks, and continuing training in the use of technology, storage, marketing, as well as praising the CIZ organization for supporting associations with agricultural machinery.
He pointed to the continuation of the project in Gedaref State and the entry into the localities of Al-Rahad, Central Gedaref and Western Galabat, in addition to the introduction of the project to achieve food security for the year 2024 in the localities of Al-Mafaza, Basinda, Al-Fashqa, Al-Nahl and Wad Al-Helio in Kassala State, stressing interest in the women’s side by granting them a percentage of (55%) and men a percentage of (45%).
Meanwhile, Engineer Amal Ibrahim, Food Security Project Coordinator, pointed to the role of the “ZOA” organization in strengthening the centers of small farmers’ associations and establishing service centers for agricultural machinery.
