Leadership Office: Decides to freeze the membership of the Unionist Association within the Forces of Freedom and Change (FFC) Alliance
The leadership office accuses the kidnapping group of tyranny, and withdraws its hand from the Addis agreement with the Rapid Support Militia (RSF)
On April 1, 2024, the leadership office of the opposition Unionist Association issued a statement under the name (Statement and Important Decisions on the Current Political Situation). At the party level, the statement monitored serious transgressions by a group it called the Kidnapping Group, which consisted of (making strategic political decisions outside institutions and structures, participating in the political negotiations with the Military Council after the sit-in dispersal massacre, as well as the signing of agreements with the military component after the October 25 coup without referring to party institutions and after issuing a clear statement rejecting dialogue with the coup leaders, making the decision to join the (Taqaddum) coalition without referring to the leadership office, exclusivity and tyranny in making big and crucial decisions, such as the framework agreement adopted by the FFC coalition and the failed attempt to pass it on the leadership of the army and RSF, represented by Al-Burhan and Hemedti, who led the ill-fated October 25 coup, despite the rejection of large sectors within the party and the people. Therefore, a specific group violated the consensual founding charter and thus deviated. The project was completely devoid of the goals included in the strategic vision and intellectual guidelines, and it monopolized the power of political and organizational decision-making and deliberately excluded anyone who disagreed with its opinion and disrupted geographical and factional conferences with flimsy and deceptive justifications for a period of five years.
After the outbreak of the war on April 15, 2023, the same group continued on the same unilateral path, ignoring the transitional institutions, and even took decisions to participate in alliances that were not approved by the party’s apparatus. What is worse is that it signed a declaration of principles with the RSF militias and adopted its point of view without consulting anyone, in complete absenting the Central Council for FFC, as well as the party’s organs, thus blatantly sided with one of the parties to the conflict, which constitutes a violation of the strategic vision, intellectual guidelines, and basic system.
The statement revealed that none of the party’s organs took the decision to join the (Taqaddum) coalition, and therefore the decision of the few that took this decision becomes in violation of the basic statute of the Unionist Association and is therefore considered invalid. The party’s organs did not take a decision to sign the Addis Ababa Declaration, and therefore, it does not represent the party and its membership, and it goes without saying to remind those who signed it that the RSF did not abide by this declaration, but rather committed atrocities and grave violations against the masses of our people every day, in a systematic and organized manner that affected all the people of Sudan. Therefore, the leadership office decided to freeze the party’s membership within the FFC coalition, evaluate and study the past period, and then report on the continuation of the federal assembly therein.
Although the statement did not mention the names of the kidnapping group, the repercussions of the statement revealed the group, which includes (Babiker Faisal, Ayman Khaled, Mohammad Al-Faki, Jaafar Hassan, and others…), and the statement indicated that they will be held accountable, while the office will be formed. The leaders are prominent and influential names, including (Sayed Al-Ubaid, Azhari Haj Madawi, Azhari Ali, Ghariballah Al-Samani, and others..), and these leaders have tried for some time to reform the situation of the kidnapping group to no avail.
Yesterday, the leaders of the Umma Party (party leaders in 13 states) issued a statement in which they affirmed, until further notice, that the leaders who hijacked the party would be transcended, and that they would be held accountable for the crimes they committed against the nation and the party. These leaders adopted the same reasons for their decisions as they gave the leaders of the Unionist Association, to the degree of conformity, most notably (hijacking the party’s decision from a small group, joining Taqaddum without referring to party institutions, signing the Addis Agreement with the RSF Militia without referring to the party, and not condemning the militia’s violations and crimes),
These statements confirm that the Taqaddum group is facing a major dilemma, given that the Umma Party and the Unionist Association are among its largest components, and that the leaders accused of kidnapping in the two parties are among the most prominent spokesmen for Taqaddum. This is what we previously warned of, and we said that forming Taqaddum without correcting mistakes of FFC will only produce (Freedom and Change + Hamdouk), which is the group that caused the fall of the transitional government, the October 25 coup, and the April 15 war. In this context, it is expected that other leaders from the components will come forward to end the kidnapping, even though these measures come late, but it is sufficient evidence of the vitality of these leaders and their efforts to restore their parties.
