Fortify it with Security and Intelligence

By: Azmi Abdul Razek

If you do not have a firm belief in strengthening and granting the General Intelligence Service sufficient powers to deal with the emerging dangers, then you undoubtedly have political purposes, or you have not read the biography of the security and intelligence agencies in the world. Indeed, perhaps you will not believe that the CIA is not merely technical offices for collecting and analyzing information only, it is a country in its own right, which includes more than 17 agencies, and its total budget in 2015 amounted to $66.8 billion, and yet we have not heard of a political activist or representative in Congress calling for the dismantling of the CIA, or the reduction of its powers.
Perhaps the most important leap for the American intelligence service occurred after World War II, to tighten its grip in 2004, when President George W. Bush signed the Intelligence Reform and Terrorism Prevention Act, seeking, without significant opposition, to strengthen American national security and address the most pressing intelligence concerns – among them to approach – files the preoccupy the minds of many Sudanese now and external aggression, and it does not harm them to raise the slogan “We are the nation’s eyes, ears, and sometimes its hidden hand. They are the CIA personnel ” Do you know what the CIA is??
We in Sudan love our homelands, but we do not care about national security. Our secrets are for sale, and that love falls to the ground in front of the first buyer who comes, as was clearly demonstrated during this war. The cover of agents from the Taqaddum group and militia agents with different ties was revealed, and many cells woke up in states that remained safe, these cells want to terrorize people with bombings and drones, and bring them ruin, without what they did to Darfur, Gezira, and Khartoum being sufficient for them. In doing so, they are trying to push the army to surrender under the pressure of the slogan “No to war,” the word of truth that is meant by falsehood.
The conspiracy actually began to dismantle the Security and Intelligence Service and leave the country in the open with the activation of the partnership between the Forces of Freedom and Change (FFC) and the military component, and its pages shined brighter within the papers of the Framework Agreement that sought for the Sudan Security Intelligence Service (SSIS) to report to the Prime Minister and defined its duties, tasks and budget, and also prohibited it from engaging in commercial and investment work, and said: The prime minister who will be appointed by FFC, a political group – not elected – is the one who will appoint the director general of the SSIS and his deputies! The Framework Agreement was not satisfied with that explicit targeting, but rather spoke about the procedures and measures necessary to reform and modernize the General Intelligence Service, based on the doctrine of Janjaweed democracy. This was the second introductory chapter for igniting war and kidnapping the country, while the first chapter was manifested in the play of rebellion of the Operations Authority, with its role and equipment inherited by the mercenaries of Dagalo Clan .
Reflection concerts regarding the dismantling of the General Security and Intelligence Service and the mutilation of its body were held inside the embassy of a Gulf state, which today is the primary supporter of the rebellion, and the FFC were among the heads of the conspiracy, plunging the country into chaos and constant exposure to foreign infiltration, making it impossible to have a solid security apparatus, resistant to the present dangers, They are political forces isolated from the people, playing the role of contractors, and not concerned with the collapse of the country, in order to achieve their goals. Moreover, in a second step, after ensuring that the nails of the SSIS were removed and transformed into an administration for collecting information only, and completely domesticating it, it revealed its tyrannical intentions, and its malicious motives, such that it transferred the authority of arrest to the police, after ensuring its control over it, and talked about the establishment of an internal security apparatus that would be affiliated to the Ministry of Interior technically and administratively, after it put the Minister of the Interior in (its pocket) so that the internal security apparatus could carry out work of an empowering nature, and settle political scores, Call it the political police or the Gestapo if you like, as the Empowerment Eradication Committee used to do. This also indicates that the position of the FFC and the signatories of the Political Declaration on freedoms is not principled, and that their principles are divided, and that the issue is related to power and control over the state, and has nothing to do with transformation. The alleged democracy, in addition to the fact that the Framework Agreement appeared to be a settlement, and in its essence was the liquidation of state agencies in favor of Hemedti’s project.
Throughout the years of transition, the General Intelligence Service did everything it needed to do, and did well, and succeeded in its assigned role as it should have, even though it was not spared from targeting, bullying parties, and continuous incitement against its employees, and it is almost the national institution that deserved the Medal of Patience and Achievement, in dealing with the security conditions and challenges professionally, even though it was restricted and a partner in the transitional period in accordance with the unjust law. It worked to fill the gaps in front of the drug mafia and human trafficking operations, and economic security operations were also not hidden to detect counterfeiting, trading in dollars, and deliberate economic sabotage, but they did not let it work. They were seeking to repeat the experience of dissolving the security apparatus after the fall of Jaafar Numeiri’s regime in 1985, and to invade the country and plunder its resources, information, and secret archives, which is what the foreign powers now lurking in Sudan are seeking.
However, there is hope kindled by the officers and soldiers of the General Intelligence Service, who are today on the front lines. They are urged to make these precious sacrifices by a patriotic spirit that does not care about injustices and betrayal, as they are proud to defend their country and preserve its security and entity. This necessarily calls for the importance of restoring the powers of the Intelligence Service and approving it law, which was signed more than two months ago. Disabling it means more penetration, more chaos, more buying of debts, and the awakening of sleeper cells, leaving the state an easy prey under the fangs of internal and external agents. Perhaps the best person to lead the new construction process is the current Director General, Lieutenant General Ahmed Ibrahim Mufaddal, and his deputy, Major General Mohammed Abbas Al-Labib, are now in the heart of the Battle of Dignity, along with their fellow officers and soldiers of the army, police, and popular resistance, fighting valiantly, and they have all realized that the country’s safety, security, and prestige are associated with the prestige of the General Intelligence Service.
