Putin’s Envoy Informs Al-Burhan of Russia’s Stance Against Conspiracies Targeting Sudan

The Chairman of the Sovereign Council and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Abdul Fattah Al-Burhan, has affirmed Sudan’s desire to upgrade and strengthen its relations with Russia in a way that serves the common interests of the two countries.
On Monday, Al-Burhan met with the Russian Special Envoy for the Middle East and Africa, Mikhail Bogdanov, in the presence of Acting Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Hussein Al-Amin.
The Acting Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a press statement that the Russian envoy’s visit represents a message of solidarity with the Sudanese government and people, and carries with it the support of the Russian leadership for Sudan, as expressed by the Russian envoy himself, during his meeting with the President of the Sovereign Council. He added that the Russian envoy confirmed Russia’s support for the existing legitimacy in the country, represented by the Sovereign Council. He said that the visit will have the potential to open horizons of cooperation between the two countries.
The Acting Undersecretary of Ministry of Foreign Affairs added that the visit also confirmed that Russia stands with Sudan in all international forums, especially since the country faces internal and external challenges and conspiracies that target its security and stability are being hatched against it.
For his part, the Russian envoy said in a press statement that his country is looking forward to more cooperation in various fields with Sudan, noting that he conveyed to the President of the Sovereign Council the greetings of Russian President Vladimir Putin, stressing the availability of political will among the leaderships of the two countries in order to move forward with joint cooperation relations to broader horizons. He added that Russia’s relationship with Sudan is based on the basic principles of preserving the unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Sudan.
Bogdanov stressed his country’s determination to develop the partnership with Sudan in the economic and commercial fields and training cadres, noting that his country possesses extensive experiences and expertise that it can exchange with Sudan within the framework of the strategic partnership between the two countries.
