Merchants Begin to Hide Commodities in Order to Increase Prices

(Sudan Events) Follow-ups have revealed that some merchants in a number of safe states began storing and hiding some basic commodities and not selling them while waiting for new prices to be determined following the large jump that occurred in foreign currency prices to unprecedented numbers, in preparation for selling them at higher prices.
At a time when (Sudan Events) observed a significant increase in the prices of consumer goods, in all markets, medicine prices were also greatly affected, and gas prices increased again, contrary to the recently announced one, in addition to an increase in the prices of petroleum products in a number of states on (Thursday) by official decisions.
A quasi-bread crisis arose in the Shendi locality, where 12 pieces were sold for a thousand pounds instead of 16 pieces. The price of flour recorded a significant increase, and the price of a 25-kilo sack reached 35,000 pounds, compared to its previous price of 22,000 pounds, while the price of a ten-kilo sack of sugar reached 22 thousand pounds compared to 18 thousand pounds. The increase affected edible oils, and the price of a liter jumped to 4 thousand pounds compared to its price of 3 thousand pounds.
Some citizens called on the competent authorities to impose more control on the markets to prevent monopoly and control the greed of merchants.
