Turk Calls on Farmers to Prepare for the Gash River

The Acting Governor of Kassala, Ali Abu Fatima Karrar, accompanied by the Minister of Production and Economic Resources, Dr. Khidr Ramadan, and the general supervisor of the Hadandawa tribes, Mohamed Ahmed Mohamed Al-Amin Turk, in the Beitai Bridge area, inspected the ongoing work progress within the work plan of preparation for Gash River and protect the flood season for the current year, which includes addressing the previous fractures caused by the Gash and led to major damage to a number of villages and local areas in the northern Delta and Aruma, in addition to the lack of water reaching the basins. Abu Fatima and the delegation accompanying him heard from the Director of the Gash preparedness Unit, Engineer Ahmed Mohammad Ali, the representative of the Irrigation and Excavation Unit, and the Director of the Gash Agricultural Project, along with stakeholders from farmers and the people of Gash, to a comprehensive enlightenment about the ongoing work on the bridge in question and a number of protection areas, which include works to strengthen protection bridges and close fractures, in addition to removing sand roots and opening channels in the 6, inspection units. The acting governor learned about the percentage of work completion within the current year’s plan and the remainder of it according to the sectors in Gash, in addition to the keenness of the concerned authorities to complete the largest possible amount of work before the flow of Gash water begins. The acting governor explained that the repeated visits for preparation and protection work by the state government and its various agencies are evidence that the Gash issue takes priority in programs due to the importance of the Gash, pointing out that controlling the flow of Gash water in its main course will bring great benefit and benefit to farmers, livestock and forests, and protect the city of Kassala and the villages against flood dangers.
Abu Fatima praised the efforts of Nazer Turk and his communication with the state’s high leadership, the Federal Ministry of Finance, and the General Intelligence Service, which contributed to the maintenance of a number of mechanisms currently working in preparation operations. He added that, despite this, the challenge remains great due to the remaining work in other sectors that need intervention and an integrated moment of work despite the limited time. He added, “We are required to have additional effort, mechanisms, budgets, and the concerted efforts of farmers and the official and popular executive bodies in order to form a single (bloc) to achieve the goal.” .
The acting governor gave the people of Kassala good news of the state government’s interest in the issue of Gash and working to compensate for the loss of agricultural production from other projects affected by the war and to support the battle of dignity through agricultural production.
The Minister of Production and Economic Resources reviewed the work carried out in the Beitai Bridge area, which was exposed to fractures in previous years, in an area of ​​(2000) linear meters, indicating that the currently ongoing work includes paving the bridge with a layer of stone to prevent fractures, in addition to constructing another protective bridge and diverting the water flow to prevent its pressure on the bridge of Betai to protect the people of the region and the various villages.
Nazer Turk called on stakeholders from farmers to follow up the work and stand with the preparation engineers and support them, expressing his thanks and appreciation to the Chairman of the Transitional Sovereign Council, the Ministry of Finance, and the Intelligence Service for their interest and support for the preparation work. He invited the Minister of Finance and National Economy, Dr. Jibril Ibrahim, to visit Gash and review the work being done, noting at the same time the damage caused to the region as a result of the Gash fractures.
