Drama Captain: We are the first to work to stop the war with the arts
Sudan Events – Magda Hassan
The head of the Dramatists Syndicate, Al-Rashid Ahmed Issa, said that they were the first to work to stop the war through drama. “We are the first to work to stop this war by calling for that through drama and music.” He said. “We did not abandon our people, nor did we leave most of the dramatic artists in the shelters for the displaced.” He added.
We are suffering with our people, so we are the organizations whose speech and voice should be heard by calling for them directly and not through the exclusionary methods of elected and working unions. Participation is not an honor for us as much as we are a real addition to the honest civil forces that have visions that express our humanity because we are still expressing. We are not looking for gratitude, position, or appreciation. This is our duty and the work that we do for the sake of this country, its progress, and its cohesion.” Al-Rashid directed his speech to “Qaht and Taqaddum.” Al-Rashid pointed out that “Taqaddum” did not care about the elected unions, and added, “We work in an alliance.” The Trade Union Front, which includes a number of elected unions, did not care about its progress. In fact, it had been participating in it since the beginning of the organization of these forces, but because it wanted to control and lead Taqaddum alone, it excluded most of the participants from attending the first meeting to form progress.. We are not against the civil forces, we are the civil forces, we are the defenders of truth, virtues and justice. We the artists have been working for more than a hundred years to build the conscience of the Sudanese people, elevate it, keep its social fabric cohesive, and in contrast to our human issues, and work to cohesion it.
